This is my family at Christmas last year, 2003.
It was my sister's first Christmas.
I'm three in this picture.

My mom and dad are my favorite people, besides my sister, SpiderMan and Scooby Doo, of course. They both work at a company near Chicago called Abbott that has lots of brown buildings. I go to school there too. My mom does lots of communicating, she's in public affairs and my dad's a manager of program operations for the dog and cat business, whatever that means. My parents met before I was born at a restaurant in Florida. My grandparents, and most of my aunts, uncles and cousins live there still. My Uncles Robbie and Harry, Aunt Angie and Cousin Karina live here in Chicago and my Aunt Kelli and Uncle Ron live in Colorado. My mom and dad like to laugh and dance and every night before I go to bed they say prayers and lay with me for four minutes. I love them a whole lot.

This is my beautiful baby sister, Taylor Riley
Widman, at her first birthday party. Doesn't
she look like a princess?

I was an only child before my sister, Taylor Riley Widman, was born on March 23, 2003. I like having a sister but I wish she were big enough to play swords with. I'm always having to take things out of her mouth that are choking hazards and yell to my mom that she's trying to climb the stairs again. She's into everything, mom and dad say, especially my stuff!! I love her though. She makes me laugh. She eats all the time and is getting really big and strong like me. She likes to dance too and shakes her bum whenever she hears music. She doesn't have any hair either.

Here I am with my new haircut on March 27, 2004.
Don't I look cute?

My name is Jake Robert Widman. I'm three years old and I have cancer. I'll be four on November 3 and want to have a Green Goblin birthday party with a big cake. I love cake! I like to do just about everything. Before I got sick, I loved to ride my bike, scooter and skateboard. I love music and have a drum set and guitar I make noise with. I used to be really into the Wiggles and Barney and even met Jeff Wiggle in person once; he was awake and shook my hand. Now that I'm a bigger boy I love Scooby Doo, SpiderMan and the Power Rangers. I also love Peter Pan and Captain Hook. I don't like to take baths but I do like to make big messes. I also love to dance and watch movies, especially Scooby Doo and Home Alone II. I like to bake with my mom and dad, especially brownies with chocolate chips. Lately I don't eat much but when I do, it's usually string cheese or candy. I really like to play with my friends and miss my friends and teachers at my school, Early Discoveries.

I'm the little one in the middle. I'm two in this
picture with my Grandmas at Disney.

Here's me with my Grandma Fahey and Grammy Widman. They spoil me rotten and kiss my face off. I love them very much. My Grandpa Fahey isn't in this picture but I love him too. All my grandparents live in Florida. They come visit me on the airplane sometimes, which makes me really happy. I wish they lived with me all the time. They buy me toys and candy and give me stuff I'm not supposed to have. It's great.

I'm very fortunate to be part of a big, crazy, loud family. My mom is the youngest of five children so I have four aunts--Denise, Kelli, Kim and Stephanie and four uncles--John, Armando, Ron, Kenny--and six cousins--Alex, Megan, Erin, Ande, Spencer and Charlie-- in Florida and Colorado. When we get together everyone talks all at once and I can't understand a thing. My dad has one brother, Uncle Robby, who lives here in Chicago with my Aunt Angie and Cousin Karina. She's two. My dad's Uncle Harry also lives here and comes to visit us a lot which makes me happy. I love them all very much. I have lots and lots more great and second aunts and uncles and cousins all over Florida, Connecticut and Massachusets. I also have a whole bunch of people who I call my aunts and uncles because I love them very much but I guess we're not really related. These are folks like my Aunt Tina and Uncle Nan, Aunt Denise, Aunt Paige and Uncle Mike, Uncle Scott, Uncle Karl, Uncle Shannon, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Doris... I also have a very special great grandfather, Pappy, who loves me very much and sends me a card with a Toys R Us gift card every day. I'm very lucky because I have a big, loving family that is very tight knit. I love them all very much and I love playing with my cousins best of all!
